St. George Care
Re-imagining forgotten art
FIFU – Old work. New life.
Art exhibition at St. George Care from 1 January to 30 April, 2026
The minimalist, abstract series began when artist FIFU sourced old paintings at flea markets. The works spoke to her: they contained the creative input of unknown artists, and the canvas had already become beautifully patinated and the frames were exciting to use, which would deserve a sustainable future.
“I wanted to extend the story of each painting. Even though my vision differed from the original, something already existing always set my creative process in motion. It felt like a dialogue with the artist who came before me.” FIFU says.
FIFU's paintings showcase that forgotten art has the potential for layered meanings. Some of the paintings contain a portal to the past of the artwork, as glimpses of earlier paintings remain visible. From a distance, the works are modern and graphic, but a closer look fuels the viewer's imagination. What do we see and what do we not? The essence of the works lies in the tension between the visible and the hidden, provoking reflection on memories and the passage of time.
These pieces are more than striking aesthetic objects; they are analytical statements that bridge the historical and the contemporary.
FIFU was born in Australia in 1962. Lives in New York City, the Founder / Creative Director of Spear Design Group.
A warm welcome to enjoy the exhibition while visiting St. George Care spa.
