What Does Luxury Mean?
At Hotel St. George, we want to challenge our guests to consider how the idea of luxury has changed over the years. What is it we expect when we seek luxury in our lives?
A short while ago, a Design Hotels seminar on the future examined the evolution of luxury. Traditionally, luxury has represented wealth and the ability to stand out. For some time already, however, the focus of luxury has been shifting from quality consciousness towards meaningful, emotional experiences.
What now matters more to many of us than the actual product is what the brand represents, such as memorable moments and concern for the environment – the impact, the experience and the sensations.
Conscious travellers want to make a positive difference to the places they visit and to ensure others benefit from their experiences. We enable this for our hotel guests, for example at our St. George Care spa, which is now carbon negative thanks to the overcompensation model of the Compensate Foundation.
Rest, silence and unhurried moments with art and literature also represent the new luxury. At St. George, we create daily opportunities for all that, too.
We’re delighted to help make more of your moments. Welcome to Hotel St. George and beautiful city of Helsinki.
