Our New Year's Resolutions for 2019

Year 2019 is almost here and we decided to make four New Year's resolutions:

Even less plastic. More stairs. Lots of good books. Many interesting events.

Our four New Year's resolutions for 2019

1. We will use even less plastic

Finnish tap water is among the highest quality in the world. We don't have water bottles in our minibars. Instead we have beautiful Finnish design glasses by Iittala and a soda maker if you prefer sparkling. We don't use plastic straws or bags either.

We have also ditched the tiny bottles of shampoo and conditioner, and we love our big bottles of L:A Bruket!

We will continue to find new ways of using even less plastic in 2019.

2. We will climb the stairs

We believe that wellbeing is reached little by little through small, repeated achievements.

That's why we encourage our guests and ourselves to climb the stairs daily - and that is why we made our staircase so captivating you’ll wish there were more floors to explore!

In 2019 we will take care of the guests and ourselves' holistic wellbeing by creating more opportunities for small, repeated achievements.

2. We will nourish the culture of reading

We will continue to respect our history and nourish the culture of reading.

Did you know that in 1871, the printing house of the Finnish Literature Society moved to the corner of Lönnrotinkatu and Yrjönkatu, the address of today’s Hotel St. George? The first Finnish newspaper, Suometar, was printed here.

You can find thousands of books at St. George. In each of the 153 rooms, in Wintergarden Restaurant & Bar, in St. George Bakery and even in our St. George Care -spa.

We will continue having monthly book clubs and creating many cozy reading corners for you.

4. We will bring even more life to Helsinki

We have organized park yogas, book clubs, art clubs, DJ nights and many other events. And we promise to keep on doing that as we want to enrich the lives of the local community - as well as be a reason to come to Helsinki!

Considering Helsinki and Hotel St. George was listed on The 50 Best Places to Travel in 2019 -list by Travel +  Leisure, we're on the right track!
